betting $ on my RWHP
I recently have finished up my 383 LT1 build. With all the mods I have listed in my SIG and a new clutch and rebuilt tranny(t-56) and a computer re-tune. I bet him $100 that i will put down 360+ RWHP. He insists that he just raked me for 100 bucks. Do you think i should make the final "shake" on the bet? I will be putting it on the dyno in the next week or two. Let me know if i need to work overtime!

Its all in the heads and tune. Who did the heads and who is tuning it? I'd say its not a lock at all. I have seen 383's make less with the hotcam with mediocre heads and tune. If you get everything dialed in right with good heads (fully ported) and tune, I'd sya closer to 385rwhp. Now if you have stock heads with stock valves and a light cleanup job, then you are in trouble. You would be choking that motor. If they arent fully ported, then i am going with 350rwhp...380rwtq

I dont know much about port work but when i looked at my motor before the install i could tell where they took a little over 1/4 inch of material off the intake ports to make it smooth and it gets bigger as it nears the intake(looks like a square funnel with rounded edges and i can tell when i look into the motor i can see where there has been machine work on the metal surrounding the valve(sorry for lack of technical term). Other than that i couldnt see anything else. And the guy said he performed a 5-angle valve job and the heads were plained and the block was decked(compression??). And the exhaust ports were machined lightly.
The tune was done by corvette masters(a local LT-1 specalty shop). I had all the factors accounted for and the tune was for 93 octane gas with about a 80% race tune.(had to retain some practicality for my high school driving)

I have a 383 with flps, mezierre, lt4 heads with a 3angle job, lt4 intake, 52mm tb, 1.6's, and a comp xe 224/236/114....the car put down 367hp, 378ft-lbs with a pcmforless dyno tune. I would say you are definitely borderline for hitting 360 if you want to base it off that. I did put that power down through a 12bolt though. Let us know how it goes. I don't know if I'd have the cajones to bet a 100 bucks on it.

hotcam in a 383?? come on man. That puppy will be a torque monster, but the hotcam isnt the best over all performance cam. 360RWHP would be if you have everything working together perfectly. If you had a 230/236 or GM847 i wouldnt even hesitate at saying 360RWHP. Just to give you some comparison. I have a stock shortblock with stock LT1 heads with a minor port job and 2.00"/1.56" valves. I have a 230/236 and all the little supporting mods that go with it, and i put down 350.1 RWHP at 5900 RPM.
All your power is in the heads and tuning. A cam large enough for a 383 sure would help too
