LT1 heads done by someone reputable will allow for more power than LT4's in stock form. If these two are the only choices, I'd go with the worked LT1's without a 2nd thought.

However, if you have plans down the road that you know for sure you will follow through on which will benefit from the greater potential LT4's have, I'd get them.

Just curious.. what's Cyclamen metallic?

Most ported LT1's are going to peak in the 25Xcfm range (or 280 on the internet ). The stock LT4's I've flow tested peaked at 234 IIRC, or right around there. Getting an LT1 to flow 240-250cfm peak with good midrange #'s is pretty easy for anyone who knows what they're doing. So really, if your porter halfway knows what they're doing, worked over LT1's should outperform the as-cast LT4's.

The LT4 casting is a great improvement over the LT1 stuff however when you're out to make alot of power... but most have power goals easily met with a nice LT1 port

Still.. just depends on what your goals & budget are

It's a colorshifiting color that looks anything from bright purple to dark maroon and anything inbetween, but it doesn't shift as much as BG Chameleon, it tends to look the same at one time...But under different lighting, it changes drastically. It was a stock color in the mid 90's, and is kinda rare. It was a cost option

Don't be misled here. This isn't really a fair poll. Why would you get LT4 castings and then not port them? Ultimately they will give you a lot more to grow with, so don't waste money porting LT1 heads if you want to go further in the long run the LT4's will give you quite a bit more metal to remove.

My plan is to save up the rest of the money(I just bought an entirely new engine) and then do a lunati crank and some 6" rods(I already have forged pistons) and port and mill the heads...Us poor college students can't do everything we'd like to...

Advanced Inductions has taken Lt1 heads and made them flow awesome. They have stock bottom end cars with the stock ported and polished Lt1 heads and a custom ground cam making over 400rwhp. Thats a lot and if any of you plan on making more than that, then I would suggest p&p Lt4 heads. Just my .02.

Check it out.

I just went with stock LT-4 for now. Next year or the year after im gonna have em professionally ported with a custom cam. I figured im geting 75% or so what you can get out of a great LT-1 port and no chance of screw ups either. and in the long run it will flow much better.

Exactly...

BTW, what kind of numbers did you put down with that set up, if you don't mind my asking?

Wether you go with LT1 ported heads, or go with LT4's and get them ported later. Talk to this guy when you need to get the work done.
