Exclamation Best Sounding Muffler???

...I've searched and searched and I can't find a straight answer about which muffler sounds the best. I had 40 Series Flows on my old T-Bird, and now I'm not sure if they'd sound good on my 96 Z28. Which Series? 1 or 2?

if you're only replacing the muffler, i'd go with a Dynomax UltraFlow. But man, it's all a matter of personal opinion. My Gale Banks cat-back sounds great. I used to run just the Dynomax muffler on stock intermediate pipe and got all kinds of compliments everywhere i went.

Is this Hooker Areochamber muffler the same one they use on their catback system?

Re: Best Sounding Muffler???

Flowmaster has been around for a long time and there are just better flowing/sounding mufflers available on the market today. It has been proven that Flowmaster mufflers flow less than the competition(Hooker), and on an LT-1 they sound like a glasspack above 3K. I had one for a year and it sounded great until you got on it. Now I have the Hooker(single in, single out) and I've never been happier. Sounds much better. I'm not trying to say that Flowmaster mufflers suck. In fact, there is nothing better than a pair of 40 series mufflers with turndowns on a cammed motor, or even a *cough* Mustang. It's just that the single LT-1 exhaust doesn't lend itself to sounding good with a Flowmaster. Just my $.02

I'm liking my dynomax ultraflow. I think it does just what i want. Had a magnaflow before but with what i've done to the car, the dynomax really gave me a nice cruise but crazy sound when romped on.

Another vote for Hooker. And yes the Aero-Chamber is the same one used on the Catback. Heres a little sound clip: http://www.freehomepages.com/andyg/Hooker_Launch.avi

You will never get an answer to that question. It's too subjective. Best is only relative to an individual person's ears.

Well in my -opinion- I like Borla the best. Has great sound at idle and when speeding up I can definately hear the muscle in it. Like everyone else said, its just personal preference. Pickup some soundclips or find people with different camaro exhaust systems and pick the one you like the best.
