Best Sounding Cam

I was under the impression that the CC306 would be a very radical cam for my lt1 with a great sound.....but i just read the 276 is the best cam for my lt1. What do you guys think is the best cam, and which would sound the best? Thanks in advance.

P.S. Before you say "it depends on what you want out of your car", i want a radical street machine that sounds like a monster, can do great at the track, but still very a rational street car to go cruisin in and get descent gas mileage.

If you can find a sound clip of Brodman's 306 idling... Let's just say, you may get a tent in your pants.

I think you are going to be disappointed. Not sure there is such a thing. No monster cam is going to give decent gas mileage.

You need more mods (heads, headers, etc.) to support a "monster" cam.

Well I think you took what I said a little bit too serious. I'm not looking for 25 mpg here...I'm just saying I want a cam that will be great at the track and on the street. I definitely want it to be big power and sound awesome, but I dont want to get 2 mpg...I'm talking like 10-18.

As for mods, when I install the cam, I will also be putting in High Energy pushrods, High energy lifters, Pro Magnum 1.6 rockers with guide plates, and hooker headers....

Go with the GM 847 cam or a custom grind like i have... The 847 wasn't the best on gas but you should get 18mpg with auto and 3.73 gears... I switched my 847 for one of Joe Overton's cams and saw an increase in mpg and all with a bigger cam and hardly any cam surge.... Joe tuned the cam via email tune .....

Now I've read that the computer needs tuning with the 306 cam. I will get this done very soon from PCMforless, but the car will be driveable with the stock computer right? Like I could get it home from the garage without it blowing up correct?

You may also want to look at LPE..I've got one of his (accel) 211/219s in my 383...533"int .560" exh w/ 1.6s 420 rwhp 25 mpg on highway...for 9 years...I've been told that the cam is too small for a 383 but I'm assuming John knew what he was doing when he built mine...118 plus mph in traps...3.42s...still don't know how he did what he did..(RIP John)

I'm not sure where the link is, try PMing Joe Brodman.

Marcin drove his 306 on a stock tune for awhile, I believe.
