Best shift point for a CC306

hey guys,
I'm taking my computer to PCMforless the first week of March to get the tune for my new setup (sig). Running a 4L60e with a 3200 stall (lockup) and my other supporting mods, where should I have them set the shift points? I was thinking 6300 but then I thought maybe 6500 would be a little better. What shift point is going to maximize my performance using my CC306 cam?

Input?

I'd say 64-65. that cam is a nice choppy cam. i had one in a 96 T/A and it would shift around 64 and pulled nice numbers.

I'm going to shift at prob close to 6200, but that's on a stock short block. Anyone know the lowest idle recommended for the 306 also?

Depends on your heads.

The only way to find the "best" point would be to dyno it and see.

Without a base to guess from I would start around 6400 and adjust from there.

Please note, you cannot specify exactly where you want to shift within the pcm. The shift is commanded instantly where you commanded yes, but the shift is not completed instantly. Depending on the state of your trans they may be able to get very close or they may be off a fair bit. That said with the wide gear splits of the 60e higher is better if your valvetrain and short block will do thier job up high and it doesnt nose over. Just throwing that out there, electronics work one way, fluid actuated clutches another. My advice on shift point to shoot for is about what everyone else says 63-6400 should be ok.

800-850rpm idle will be nice and civilized. Excessively low idles will confuse the o2 sensors and make the fuel trims all screwed up with a cam, I would not go any lower than 700-725rpm if lots of lope is your thing. I rather like my car to stay running nice and smoothly when I come to a light is why I suggest the higher idle rpm.

Yep! Depends on the heads. I had a friend who used to shift his CC306 cammed stock bottom end LT1 at 7000 because it was still making plenty of power up there due to his heads. At the time he had the quickest naturally aspirated 350" LT1 Impala SS.
