I got mine at Gmpartsdirect.com. Best price I could find, ($2100 or so n/including the timing chain) but the shipping is very high, around $100. The other drawback is that there is no live person to talk to and no phone number, every transaction is via email. They do answer quickly though. Also they are fast in their delivery.

However, it appears that perhaps the guys who fill the orders aren't that vigilant or don't inspect the parts or something b/c my intakle manifold was dented on the bottom, and the red powder coat had scratches in it. I returned it and am awaiting a new one...

I've also heard people that recommend Jason Cromer, and Pace parts has a pretty good deal as well, but none seem to be any lower than gmpartsdirect even with the shipping included. Good luck!

You'd get more performance for the same money going w/ a ported set of LT1 heads and Hot Cam.

Look do NOT WASTER YOUR MONEY LIKE THAT....

Those heads dont even flow that well stock anyway...

Have a set of stock heads ported, polished, and a valve job by lloyd elliot on here (His name is nighttrain on here, cost around $1000 i think)

Get the LT4 hotcam kit.....
Get long tube headers...

Enjoy 360 rwhp

compared to the 290 rwhp of the lt4 conversion

I wouldn't say that is exactly accurate info. My roomate, with the LT4 top end kit (including the extreme duty timing chain), mail order programing, RS Sport headers w/ dual cat Y-pipe, Borla, 58mm TB (intake manifold was not port matched to it) and stock SS intake w/ K&N filter dynoed 330RWHP w/ a header leak and not dyno tuned.

Probably could have gotten 340 RWHP out of that setup he once had. And that's w/ cats and shortys as well.

The simple fact is you can make more power for the same money/driveability with a ported set of LT1 heads. If I were getting MY heads ported again, I'd have Phil (Skardom) do mine.

The LT4 conversion kit includes the LT4 Hotcam kit if I remember correctly. Complete LT4 heads are about $1200 and the intake is 3-400 There are a few people on here who did this kit and with tuning and bolt-ons pulled 350rwhp. About 320rwhp seems to be the norm on stock heads/bolt-on/hotcam LT1s. Search and see for yourself.

The thing with the LT4s is that they'll give you a lot more room to grow than the LT1s ever will. Stock, the LT1s peak at around 205cfm at .550 lift while the LT4s are closer to 240. Good ported LT1s net around 270cfm and I've seen a few LT4s get near 300. Not to mention that the LT4's larger/taller ports will make more top end power and have better high-lift flow numbers. It depends on how far you plan to go. Chris Sikora is running mid-low 9s on a stroker LT1 with LT4 heads, so they do make really impressive power.

And some just like the fact that they'll have an LT4, like many of the LS1 guys go after the LS6 stuff. Kind of a sentimental thing I guess. Although, if it's for strictly performance reasons, I'd either get some AFRs or convert some high-port GenI heads and use those instead.

I thought the conversion came with the regular lt4 cam....

Yea with the lt4 HOT CAM the number would be a bit higher than 290 rwhp!!!

It does come with the HOTcam.

I got my conversion kit b/c of what was said above, I would rather spend 1200 on stock LT4 heads and port and polish them myself, than spend money having someone port my LT1's for lesser ultimate gain.

Do a search around here on LT4...from what I could tell the general consensus was that it's not worth the money just to say you "have an LT4"...

The kit is expensive and you can get better performance for the money but I have the hot cam kit with a auto and put down
329 rwhp. I'm sure with proper tuning that kit will do better. I would think 350rwhp with the hot cam. My LT1 heads are stock and the lT4's out flow the LT1's.
I bought Lingenfelter ported LT4's for my new engine.
But a friend of mine has the hot cam with Ported LT1 heads and
put down 370+rwhp(m6). Ported LT1 heads are great bang for the buck and Phil Skarodom is who I would have do mine.

The kit is a bit expensive, but the LT4's are a much nicer casting than the LT1's... If you're willing to pay a premium for that, then I suppose you could do it. I know the LT4's are easy to pick up from ~230cfm peak untouched to ~265-270cfm peak with the stock 2.00 valve, a good VJ, and about 10 minutes .
