best price on an alternator?

i think my alternator is making my check guages light stay half way illuminated. so i am wanting to get a new alternator. i had mine checked and they said it is charging great and the diodes are ok. however, when i had them check it, they said there is a red light coming up on the machine that means something isn't exactly right. i just want to get a new alt. to get that darn check guages light off. i will be selling my car soon so i don't want anything pricey. anyone know where i can get one at a good price?

Make friends with a service manager at a GM dealership and get a new AC Delco (lifetime warranty), 140 amp unit for $156.00 (his/her price)! Autozone rebuilts (not new!) only have a 1 year warranty. As w/ most things, it only takes a few more $$$ to go first class. And don't you (and your car) deserve it!

But he's selling the car. Call your local parts houses and get quotes, then go with the cheapest.
