best price on 2800 stall?

I really want to get a stall around 2800 i looked at the Vig and it was like $700

I have seen B&M stalls for like 200-300 where can i find a cheaper stall for my car?

Can a used converter be trusted? If someone trans goes the converter can have crap wroung with it right?

If you don't pay the big bucks the first time for a converter, chances are it's going to fail and take the transmission with it. You get what you pay for.....do it right the first time and get a Vigilante.

he is correct, there is a chance that a cheap converter will fail, when it does, bye-bye trans.....you get what you pay for......

I got my used PI Vigilante 2800 stall locally from a guy for $375. He had only used it for a few months and it never saw the track. The cool thing about Precision Industries is that they offer one free re-stall, all you pay is shipping! So you can pick up a used one, even if it may be a bit worn, and send it in for a free upgrade to any stall you desire.

Theres a guy in South Carolina that makes stalls. He does slot for the scfyb.com crowd. He made a 3800 for me. I think his 2800 are like 230.00. You can call him at 843-347-1320. His name is Dave Swimm. Tell him you know Kyle and he will hook you up.

Money is well spent on a good convertor. I didn't understand that until I bought one, and then my friend bought one. I had always had a high stalled 12in, which was slippery and had no tourqe multiplication because the fins where so far out to get the high stall, it was very inefficant(sp?) I bought a 9.5 ACT 2800 stall from dana at probuilt and will never go back to a big convetor. After I bought it my friend couldn't believe how it felt so he bought a 10in contenintal from dana, he has a TH350 and I have a 700R4. He dropped 4 tenths off his 1/8 mile time. I can cut a 1.84 60ft on radial tires in a t top car with no SFC's of LCA's. I hope to be in mid 1.7's after some suspension work.

My ACT cost 630 dollars shipped. It was quite a bit cheaper than the vig and yank's I had seen. Convetor technology has came along way in the past 10 years. IMO the B&M convetors aren't nearly as good as the 9.5's. The 9.5 is lighter, easier on the transmission, is a very tight convetor(untill you smack the gas you can't tell its there), stalls quicker, locks up quicker and harder and has awesome tourqe multiplication because the fins are at a very positive angle. I did alot of research before I bought mine and now I understand why all the fast LT1/LS1 guys are using them.
Hope this helps.
Jason

Listen to these posts. Every one is right in what they say. I had a B&M 2400 Holeshot installed two months ago and it worked fine up untill last week. And guess what, the tranny's shot now too. So now a $300 TC has turned into a $2,000 mistake. Now I'm having a trans and TC custom built to my specs. Now I gotta wait a few weeks for the trans to come in. Take it from me don't skimp out on a TC. Save your money and do it right the first time. Don't forget about a tranny cooler either. Good luck.

I bought a used Dayco converter, it was a piece of garbage. It was nothing more than a restalled factory sized converter. I noticed no performance increase because the thing was shot- previous owner had sprayed it off the line.

After that I started shopping around for a converter, and looked at B&M, TCI, Midwest and PI. I refuse to pay a premium for a PI converter. I bought a Midwest converter for $455 shipped. It's a 9.5" converter, lockup, 2.5 stall torque ratio(STR) and was stalled to my spec of 2800 rpm. www.raceconverters.com They have awesome customer service and I cannot recommend them enough!

Take a look at Edge racing converters.
EdgeRacingConverters
The ImalaSSforum is running a 2nd GP on these.
A lot of us have bought one and we're pushin' an extra 1000lbs.
Here's a couple of links:
EDGE GP
Some testimonials
At around $450-500 the quality appears to be there....
And it knocked about .35-.4 off my best time and I'm haulin' 4300lbs.

Good luck,
Bob T.
