Best performance gains for around $1000?

Hey all, I'm going to be coming into about $1000 here soon, and I need to figure out what the best performance gains would be for my car. Right now I'm thinking between 2 combo's...

1. 1.7 Scorpion Rockers and 4.10 gears

2. 230/236 XE cam/rockers from Cmotorsports

any other thoughts on what I could do here? I've also tossed around thoughts about a new clutch, different exhaust, etc...

You will not get full benefit from rockers or cam without having those heads ported. Visit my site.

I could be wrong but I think with 1.7 rocker arms you will run into PV clearance problems. Besides all the extra stress it puts on your valvetrain.

IMHO I would do a cam. With lifters, pushrods, timing chain, and gaskets it would be just under $1k. Then you can use the rest of the money for gas or tuning.

NCC-230HL
HIGH ENERGY
Comp Cams 230HL Camshaft 230/236 duration @ .050", .560"/.570" lift with 1.5 rockers, .598"/.608" lift with 1.6 rockers. Excellent cam for 350 strip cars, stroker street/strip cars.

NCC-230XH
XTREME
Comp Cams 230XH Camshaft 230/236 duration @ .050", .584"/.585" lift with 1.5 rockers, .622"/.624" lift with 1.6 rockers. The most powerful mid/high duration Comp Cam available.

those are the 3 cams combo offers with duration 230/236 so instead of going with a 1.7 RR i think you should just choose one of the high lift versions of that cam and either do a 1.5 or 1.6 RR.

also if you do a cam and gears you will not stay under $1000.
