Re: "Best" non-Longtubes?

AS&M and RK are the same thing. Only real difference is the RK's have oval primary ports vs the AS&M with the head matching D ports. The RK's have a bit less quality coating. SLP's are nice also. I have seen impressive gains from all of these brands. Macs are ok, but I see these three as being a much better alternative to LT's. LT's now come with emission hook ups if you wanted to consider that.

I dunno about AS&M but SLP uses stainless steel to construct their headers... and for some reason they are not as popular as the AS&M so you can pick up a set for a little cheaper. Brand new either one is going to set(coated) you back around $800.

Re: "Best" non-Longtubes?

Has anyone been able to compare the AS&M plug Access VS the MAC plug access? Also what coatings come with AS&M headers? Looks like i've narrowed it down to those two

The only like i can find on the AS&M was this: http://www.azspeed-marine.com/as19lt1flotu.html didnt see any about midlengths... Anyone have any info on the mids?

Re: "Best" non-Longtubes?

i have the rk sports. mine are ceramic coated. i like them, sound nice, look nice, but hang very low with my 3"i hi-flow cat. i have the slp y-pipe and i defitely have many problems with leaks. i had to get it welded shut where the collector meets the y-pipe. i blew up 5 bolts and broke off bolts that had nuts welded onto them. i have also had a bolt come off the header at the heads, but thats probably from the vibrations of the weld underneath. i would say defintely good though, and i still pass emission.

I vote for MAC's.

I like my SLPs, just remember to get the 93-95 style if they are used, the 96+ are just glorified manifolds basicly

even though the website says those are long tubes they are actually mid tubes. see how the y-pipe comes up past the oil pan? it has to have a full collector down by the bellhousing to be considered a long tube i think.
