hrm.

Sorry, but I think your being rather arrogant right now. I believe Lloyd has come on here once or twice and recognized on his own that your heads probably have an advantage over his, which IMO shows that he is if nothing else knowledgeable and not full of BS. Your heads are also TWICE the price of his. I have seen much data (flow, dyno, track #'s) from his heads, but precious little from your own. Sorry if I'm coming off like an *** but I hate it when a "vendor" comes onto a message board and starts ripping up his competitors products, especially when that competitor has a proven record for performance.

I have yet to see Phil's heads dynoed with off the shelf cams (beside GM847 cam). It would be interesting to see what his heads put out with say a hotcam/305/306/XE230/236 etc. Many of Lloyd's heads have been tested with these cams, and he has a customer that made over 400rwhp with a 306 cam. I still need to dyno mine and see where I am at. Phil's numbers are usually with a special ground cam that nobody has specs for, so its not really comparable. To me, making 415rwhp with a cam that nobody has specs for doesnt prove too much. Yeah, 415rwhp is damn awesome, I just mean its tough to compare to other porters when you dont dyno the same combos.

phil has not mentioned anyones name. so just leave that alone.

both of them (phil as well as loyd) helped me when i was doing my heads and gave me some pointers. i think both these guys are stand up guys.

and if phil can prove he put down more hp than somes eles heads, well what can you say but yeah you did, its a better set of head sfor what the person wanted, but he has not mentioned any names, so drop that.

I am just saying that in order to have the "best" stuff, it would be nice to see some comparo's between vehicle's running same cam and similar setups.

SJS,you should be concentrating on the runners.Thats where most of the material should come off.Dont go thru a coolant passage tho.I would like to see both those guys heads dynoed with the same set up.I bet it would be close.

You're across the country & don't even know what race shop I work with... . You don't know, I've been grinding on things for the past 3 years . Thanks though, angle for a discount on AIM, and post things like this online. Odd strategy .

As far as my cam stuff.. I've got LOTS of customers who don't want one of my grinds. Even still, my grinds aren't anything funky. If you notice most of them still run 987/985 springs, which would limit you to "normal" HR profiles etc. My custom grind stuff isnt anywhere NEAR as aggressive as the comp XE 3100 series, if that tells you anything. Even still, you can only go so big before people start having driveability issues and whatnot. So really the bottom line is that most of the cams I give people are similar to what you can buy anywhere else, I just sit and think them over a little more and crunch some #'s before I come up with them. That and... if the heads werent there, it wouldnt make power...

As far as people w/o my stuff, there's quite a few on here... I know waswa's has done over 400 with that 847, and I know nick rolled 411 i think it was with a 230/238-112 .530/.530 cam. Nick's dyno sheet is here. Not a big cam .

Either way, this stuff performs as a package, so I offer more than just a set of heads. Like it, great. Don't like it, no problem, other grinds work fine. I've seen very few 400rw cars that were SAE, didn't have tricks done (belt off etc) at the dyno, had untouched intake manifolds etc. on here. If any do, it's more an inconsistency than a regular occurance it seems. Take what you will from that I suppose. I'm terribly competitive, and all I want to do is beat everyone & go fast doing it. I never said I was the best, but I know what I'm better than . People didn't want to hear it when I told the obvious truth about the PP guys... but what happened a few mos later? Aside from people wishing they'd listened .

Ahh well, nothing magical to this stuff, it's just SBC. I'm very fortunate to have made some highly intelligent friends who are constantly doing r&d on leading edge race stuff for nascar/grand-am/trans-am/etc. That's all. Some people just have alot of catching up to do

I guess it really is who you know LOL

Take Care,

-Phil

When did I claim to know what shop does your heads? You know exactly what I'm talking about. It was merely a question - I wasn't bashing you at all, was just curious.

I was talking about a discount, what...a year ago? I recently messaged you simply asking for a price - I don't need a discount. The only reason I ever mentioned the idea of a small discount was because you wanted to see how your heads worked with a small cammed LT1. I have a small cammed LT1 and I know A LOT of guys who would be interested in a set of killer heads...would have paid off. I didn't have the money to pay $2k for heads then, but now that I do I will be getting them somewhere else.

Preach on brotha Phil - you've always had the wrong approach.

My views don't stem from the fact that you didn't give me a deal on heads - so don't bring that $hit up. It was more of a, "you do me a small favor and I'll bring you some business." Don't twist it around like you often do.

Phil- Was is your actual job description?

In my opinion your all talk and dont do much(if any) work at the shop. Your probably just a helper and they do all the work and research and you sell it and make the money..I sure hope your not taking in all the profits. Just calling it how I see it..

I have CNC Machine CNC ported heads on my stroker and I am making 400 HP at the rear wheels. Here is a flow number sheet for LT1 heads.

good luck with your project

IMO if you want the best bang for the buck heads go for Lloyd Elliot porting. If you want to pay $3000 for heads and labor then get the AFR LT4 heads and then get them ported/polished/valve job/bigger valves/ect. Whatcha got to spend?
