Best header bolts for SLP shorties?

Just like the subject states. I can't seem to fit a regular 3/8 wrench in between the header and the header bolt. I want to go with a header bolt that I can retighten easily/Don't have to retighten. Any suggestions?

I was thinking about the stage 8's as well. Right now the bolts are 12 point 3/4"(?) bolts. It sucks trying to get at some of those bolts. I can't seem to fit a closed end wrench in between the header and the bolt. I used my bench grinder and grinded down one of my 3/8 wrenches so it would fit in between but after a couple used it broke. These headers seem to bend right in the way of the header bolt. What size header bolts should get?

arp makes some with a 5/16 head. those supplied 12 pointers will work. its all in how far you tighten any one bolt on a side down first. you cant. they all, pretty much, have to go in even with each other till the header is snug against the head. in other words if the underside of the bolt head stays it contact with the flange all the way down, the wrench will always have the clearance to go around the bolt head. i hope i was able to describe the process clearly enough, way easier just to show ya.

I understand exactly what your talking about grumpygreaseape. But I'm talking about the fact that you can't fit a a wrench in between the header and bolt when its all tightened down. See I'm trying to take out the header bolts right now and when I put them back in I want something easier to work with. I can't even remember how I got those bolts in there in the first place.

Get the Breslin splitlock bolts. Once you tighten them they will never come loose so you can forget them. www.go-breslin.com

heres the little devil you need. mac hm1214. it would be a wonderful world if we had access like that to slide that allen wrench into those breslin bolts, prolly could get at half of them with slp headers.

Grumpy, where do you find that wrench. I take it it arches over the primaries to get better turns in. How about the fitment of the wrench head between the bolt and primary, do you still have to shave some of it off?

I had stage 8's but after having to remove my headers, then putting them back in, I found it to be a PITA. I went to autozone and picked up some cheap versions of the arp bolts.

ouch... just found them on MAC tools online catalog.

5-piece SAE Half Moon wrench set: ~$205
5-piece Metric Half Moon wrench set: ~$150

Neither set is ratcheting though. (yeah I'm lazy )

I'm gonna try my racketing Craftsman wrench and the ARP undersized heads first. (cool tool though, can't recall seeing one before)

nah-its a full manual control high performance overpriced chrome tooltruck suppository, but it do work-a ratcheting head would make the od too big and we would be back at square 1.

You order them directly from Breslin.

I bought Breslins when I did my header... I have not had any loosen on me at all. No header leaks either.

The black (moly) bolts are the 200-101 and the stainless ones are the 600-101. Those are the 1" lengths. And they run about $65 plus a few bucks for shipping.

They're not cheap, but they're sort-of "Fire and Forget" header bolts.

BTW: They're also doing intake bolts now too.
