Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

Other then open headers?

LT's, ORY, into LM?

Or using some sort of X pipe setup?

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

No exhaust.

Exhaust system requirement really depend on how much power your engine makes. The stock 3" I pipe with a 3" over axle pipe with Hooker LT's and a $60 3" dynomax ultra flow will easily support over 400 rwhp.

A single 3" exhaust system is definatly a restriction for 400rwhp... I gained .8mph by just taking off my hooker muffler at the track (ran 2 back to back 114.3mph traps with it on, 2 back to back 115.1mph traps with it off). And thats still going through the 3" pipe, I'm sure i would pick up more with true duals.

You were still running single exhaust. I have personally seen cars at Fastchips dyno 412 rwhp with single 3" exhaust. I've also seen single turbo mustangs make 600rwhp with single 3" exhaust.

True dual exhaust will flow better with out a doubt. But what is the point in spending more money than necessary.

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

LTs into OR pipe and LM is LOUD. Too LOUD, trust me.

Borla flows quite well actually due to the wide open feature, as does the x pipe combo previously mentioned. However, the mufflex 4 inch single system is the least restrictive "through the mufflers and tailpipe" system I've seen.

I think the loudmouth is an excellent cat back choice , its pretty unrestrictive. If you need ultimate flow what about a 4 inch mufflex ???

What I was trying to say is I'm willing to put money on it that I would have picked up more from the open 3" pipe to true duals....

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

LTs ORY GMMG thats my opinion great flow, loud and sounds great
LTs ORY LM/BORLA (open plate) great flow really loud doesnt sount great soudns ok
LTs ORY Magnaflow/ SLP 2OTL flow really good not really loud sounds good

if u really think ur gonan gain anything off true duals but dont want true duals , buy LTs put dual electric cuttouts on and run teh single pipe catback , when u need teh power flip teh switch

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

I have 420 RWHP in my 95 ta, it is a MORE perf 383 and I am running the corsa catback with dual cats and ceramic coated hooker long tube headers, I am sure with pulleys, a bigger cam, a delteq, I figure to be close to 500? maybe, but if you go bigger than 383 you should get close if not over 500. my corsa is kinda high pitched, but it is different than the loudmouth, haven't heard to much negativity about it yet, but it very well might be illegal with how loud it is.

O gotcha, sorry bout the misunderstanding. Sometimes someones meaning are hard to interprut through typing. And your statement is correct also. Mufflex flows a lot also but weighs a lot too. From what I've seen cars than switch from a mufflex system with a straight through muffler to a dual exhaust system they don't pick up much of differance in power but dual exhaus is lighter than the huge I pipe.

I got a le2 383 heads and cam package with Jet hots, no cats, and the loudmouth. That set up puts the loud in Loudmouth. Picture winston cup car.... screaming at your buddy next to you, just to talk... get the picture...

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

The SLP Loudmouth is probably the best flowing cat back around because of the straight through resonator style muffler, and has loud and deep rumble to it also !

Re: Best Flowing Exhaust Setup?

I know how great the loudmouth catback is...

I'm just saying how much worse/better is the flow from a set of LT's through a X Pipe instead of an ory and Loudmouth.

Assume the X has dual chambered mufflers or whatever...

X pipe is also 2 1/2 from the collector to the dumps
