Best First Mod?

I am looking to buy a 94 or 95 LT1 with a 6 speed and I was wondering what is the best first mod you can do, aside from the basic tune up. I was looking at either a K&N cold air intake kit or maybe a Random Tech or Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. Which one would the better one to begin with?

If you are on a budget..(like most of us) and can only afford one now....Then your best bet is to go with the Cold air kit. Or you could do what the previous post said....Just go to the forsale section and buy one used and then you will have enough money left over for a cut out.

Good luck on your first Mod!

don't get the flowmaster, and a cutout will be very loud but a great improvement if you don't mind. But yes, do intake and exhaust. Its all I have ATM, throttle response much better, and a little bit quicker/more fun to drive, but nothing major. as for future plans, i'm going to get some nice wires (as I need them anyway) and save up for some headers..

btw, if you're looking for an inexpensive exhaust (which i'll assume since you mentioned the flowmaster), check out the hooker cat-back. I myself and several other members here with the system are very happy with it. If you wanna listen to mine, d\l this vid:

also, the k&n intake costs way too much IMHO, I got my intake (just something some guy makes) on ebay for like $40, and it polished up and made the engine compartment look alot nicer.

good luck!

I would say a shifter. It makes a huge difference over stock.

Do exhaust first if you have the money to do it, but if not do the Cold air. Also if you want your car to sound good, put the exhaust on.

An exhaust is definately a good mod too. You can get a magnaflow catback for $300.

If you're only able to do one mod, a new shifter will do the most to enhance your driving pleasure.
