Best emission headers
I have been running a set of JBA Mids on my LT1 (383) for years here in Texas (Houston) where they are emission *****. As long as you have Air hook ups and O2 hook ups you should be fine. However, they are correct that long tubes will probably fail you in a visual inspection as almost all don't have air hookups and some requre 02 sims. I personally would stay away from long tubes if you want to keep your legality and they also really compromise your ground clearance and the gains are not that much more than mids. Good luck.
SLP has headers for just about everything including all LT1s. I have a catalog sitting right in front of me---had it for ages. Tell me what you need, and I will tell you what they have ---at least used to have.
I run SLP, dual-cat shorties on my SS. I bought them uncoated and had a professional outfit ceramic coat them. I would have opted for some nice Kooks or AS&Ms or other qualilty brand of long tubes, but I don't relish the possiblity of getting nailed here in Oregon by the emissions cops. Call me chicken, but though the chance of getting caugt may be slim, I'd hate to have to take them off and replace everything if I did get caught. JMHO

Anybody had BBK or Edlebrock headers? Guy at the local speedshop said shortys are almost worthless that only longtubes give real power, but he drives a Mustang although it is a 9 sec. Mustang. A Shelby GT500 putting down 603 rwhp on the Mustang Dyno they have.
LTs do give you more power, but you have to have the motor to push it, IE: 383 or 396, even the 355 setups work better. However, keep in mind that if your state is picky on emissions (like here in Texas) you will probably fail inspection. I would recommend sticking with Mids as I stated before as they are almost as good as LTs, they don't have clearance issues and will pass emission inspections. Good luck.
I did not do the install so cant say how long it took,i had a custom ypipe so it took a few days,i cant see two days just for headers,There are no clearence issues, fit great, plug access is even better than my slp shorties.yes they are somewhat expensive, but you get what you pay for..

I've read that the Kooks Y-Pipe goes from 3" where it mates with their headers down to 2 3/4" inches to mate with the stock catback. Is that true? If so, wouldn't that be considered a restriction and somewhat defeat the purpose of having a 3" catback? Is this the case for all Y-Pipes? Do people just cut that portion off of their Y-Pipe? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm no exhaust expert and I'm looking to install some headers and exhaust around Christmas.
I have DMS springs,so yes my car is lowered,i only driven the car home from the shop which was wednesday,i'm know i will have to be careful in certain spots, driveways, bumps etc.Arent the sportlines lower than the pro kit,so that is where your problem will arise
I'm still leaning toward the shorty's although I am definitly going cam and heads down the road. Just on a budget. Too many toys. The boat is a toy that cost a lot to have. The bike is the cheapest with the car in between.
Installation took me about 2 weeks worth of evenings and partial weekends, including welding up all the exhaust, ect.
