best custom cams?

my t/a has been apart getting the block rehoned after a summer mishap, and I bought a gm 847. I don't have much time til the motor is back, but I'm thinking I'd rather go the custom route for more power. I know Bret B does some, and nobody can reach joe overton, and there's a bunch of people who custom grind them... Who can do it the fastest for the best price? I'd like to go a bit bigger hydraulic cam than the 847. Thanks for the info!!

Well, I guess I'll put in a good word for BRE, inspite of the fact they are damn yankees.

I asked Bret to spec a solid roller for a 489 pump gas BBC to make 650 FW by 6400 rpm. It made 640 @ 6200.
The 68 Camaro uses a 3000 stall and 3.73 gear and is much fun to drive.

Oh yea, I got one in my car too! It's also fun to drive.

Any cam shaft I ever buy will be from Bret. He is great to deal with. He will help you out if there is ap roblem, is willing to talk on the phone with customers, and no ? is too stupid to ask him. Plus his prices are great and his parts are really making a name for themselves on here now.

Thanks guys, working with Lloyd certainly helps!

Stew, I'm glad that I got you pretty dam close on what you wanted for that BBC, they are not my specialty but a motor is a motor. Either way within 10hp and making it come in 200rpm earlier is actually better! If you have a dyno chart of that I'd love to see it.

Any cam manufacturer can spect and grind ya a cam. Crower,Reed,Isky,Comp,Ultradine,Cam Motion, to name a few. They get pretty close.
It's who ya like and who does ya the best job. This takes using more than one cam from a grinder though.
Bret does a good job too. I don't sell just cams,I sell cams with my builds so they are right with the HP and customer spec.
