Best clearing CAI for LT1 SS hood??

I tried a Lingenfelter CAI and my OEM SS hood wouldn't close right on it. Any of you guys had success with another brand CAI clearing under a 96/97 GM OEM SS Ram Air hood??

That kinda blows my mind. Any pics? I'm not familiar with the Lingefelter CAI, but when I had a K&N FIPK on my 97 Z28, there were other things in the engine bay around the CAI (like the radiator/fan shroud, MAF) that were taller than it.

SLP's CAI seems to have nice clearance. You might call SLP and see if that'll work for you.

Just asking, did you put the filter on from the bottom of the car in the fender or no? Just touching base, don't take it as an insult. The way they are made there should be no interference with the hood at all. If you have the filter on top of the hole it should go down through it will definately cause an issue.

No offense taken. I had a 95 Z28 before this car and put a Moroso CAI on it with no issues at all, so I know I installed it correctly. I had it on exactly per instructions but it interferes slightly with the hood. It latches but the front corner of the hood slightly sticks up no matter what I did. I took it off an reinstalled the ram air box for now.

Has anyone actually installed one under a GM SS hood? Thanks for the input.

I'm running the factory ram air intake on my factory hood. I know people have switched to a CAI style intake though. Don't know much about the Lingenfelter CAI though.

What's strange is the Lingenfelter CAI looks very much like the Moroso I installed on my '95 Z... and almost identical to the K&N too. I don't know if the fiberglass SS hood is reinforced differently than the stock metal hood and maybe that's the interference difference. I'm still using the GM SS air box for now but heard there was better airflow with a CAI. Especially when you look at the small intake opening in the SS hood vs. The large filter surface area of a CAI.
