Best cheap street tires?

Im looking for the best street tires that have GREAT traction. Traction has been a major issue for me. It spins through 1st and 2nd. Maybe Dr's? Where is the cheapest place to by them?

I have Firehawks. They're pretty good traction wise. The BF Goodrich KDWs are really good and they're only about $10 more per tire than the firehawks.

In my opionion, the Kuhmos are horrible for traction. They are decent in wet weather cause of the tread design, but for dry, they are just about terrible. But they do last long cause of the material they are made out of is a little harder.

I run around on Nitto Drags full time, granted they don't last long but they do grip much better.

I have Yokohama avs es 100's. I like them a lot and they are pretty cheap also. The traction is pretty good and it is a good looking tire.

Another vote for Kumho's. You can get 275/40/ZR17's for like $110 bucks each. That's a pretty good deal considering the tire you get. Nice looking tread design, good rain traction, and pretty good dry traction. Not DR's by any means but a quality cheap tire. Any size smaller then what I stated just saves you more money.

I've also been told that Kumho's are nice and typically comparable to Yokohamas.

I was actually supposed to get Kumhos but the place I got my wheels and tires from said they didn't have them in stock after telling me they did, so they gave me Yoko's at the same price.

I have yokos on my daily driver('89 bmw 525i) and I toss that car around the corners pretty hard and they don't skip. We also have them on the 97 z28 and they do pretty well, I have a hard time getting them to squeal on most roads(we have an A4).

Yokos are great.

btw: tires.com is a personal favorite of mine for buying tires and wheels. Good prices!

I feel the KDWS is fairly good. right$, long treadwear, good in rain, but cruddy in snow. Better than the Coopers I have on front.

I have kumho 235/55/16's and I'm not exceptionally happy with the performance. they're good for the price, but my next set probably won't be kumhos. I'm gonna save for either firehawks or goodyear gs d3's.

You need to get 245's and then go down to a 50 series and you'll see a nice performance increase. Although the tire size you selected is decent it is teetering on the performance/ride comfort side. Probably a better tire for snow but not cornering performance. It's amazing what just a single size jump will do.

Heh, well since I'm in College Station Texas, snow isn't much of a problem!

My brother has 275/45/17's KDWS on his *cough* mustang and it is unbelievable how that thing hooks...and he's got 4.10's. Plus they have a 400AA twr. He's up in College Station too, and besides the rain, the snow shouldn't hurt it Get a quote from tirerack.com and take it up to discount tire and they'll match the price. I have Nittos, and as soon as I get some 17" wheels, I'm all over the KDWS! My .02.

What car does your brother drive? What's his name? Wonder if he ever goes to Sonic on Friday nights...
