take your muffler off and run around for a while without it, ive had mine off for years it sounds wicked! i did that before buying a cat back and decided to keep it that way, i love it! at least do that before you buy it, its hardcore, not too bad but ya might like it.

I like the sound of my hooker. I always get compliments on how good my car sounds cause evey LT1 around here has flowmaster. Which is one of the reasons I bought it to be different. I loved it when I still had my cat, it had the low deep rumble and didn't pop none when letting off the gas. It pops a little now after cat was took off but not as bad as flowmaster. One other thing bad about Hooker catback is the tips tend to rust if you don't keep them clean.

I have longtubes, no cat, and a hooker catback and I love it!
On a side note however I have heard very good things about the Corsa system-quiet at idle and cruising speeds, wicked at WOT. I would've gotten it except for the price tag $$$ Just figured I'd mention it since no one else did. You can listen to clips on their website at www.corsaperf.com

I had flowmasters on my z28, and i gotta say i loved them. Good low rumble, but not loud enough to **** off the neighbors (too much). But exhaust sound is extremely subjective, and the setup i like could be the one that you hate. I believe flowmasters sound great and are high quality exhaust systems, but i have also heard great things about the Hooker exhaust. I've never heard the borla exhaust, but borla generally makes good stuff, so its certainly worth checking out. In short, there are a lot of good choices out there. Just pick one and it'll end up great.
