best cam for stock motor?

Ok i know this has been beat to death but i cant really find what im looking for in old threads.

My 94 is internally stock. I have long tubes,elec water pump,shift kit,3:73's,msd 6al,etc etc...

I want the best cam for a stock motor. I already have 1.6 pro mag's and comp r' lifters so i need the cam and correct springs.
Im just going to install it and have pcmforless tune it by mail.

Any info or just some opinions would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks again guys

The hotcam is definately an option. I just installed mine when I did the motor, and it definately made a difference! Engine pulls to 5,800 or so, and the midrance is awesome! Before tuning it ran good, but after tuning it runs a lot better. At idle it's not very noticeable behind the car, but you can hear it pinging in the headers a little. Definately a worthwhile mod.

I just finished installing the 224/230 cam with new rockers and springs and whatnot and what a difference. The mods I have in the sig are what I had before the install. So this cam would be my suggestion because it is a couple steps bigger than the hotcam and will still pass emissions.

Good Luck

M6 or A4?

I'v got the 224/230 and it does awsome on a stock motor.

I went to the track tonight (3rd time there) and ran a 12.90 @ 110 with 275 street tires. Thats with shorties! Imagine what a nice set of long tubes would do.

You should definately consider the 224/230.

Make sure you do research for whatever cam you get.

Wow, I have like the same exact car as you. Even the same headers. I am hoping that I can dip into the 12's without any problems too.

I have the 224/230 cam and love it. Sounds good and performs just as well. I won f-bdy nats in 2002 with this cam. And ran 12.65's all day long with no head work done at all. With manifolds also. Now I have FLP longtubes and Ported and polished heads and many more mods. This thing sounds insane. Can wait to get to the track to see what it will do. You will not be disapointed with this cam.

I used EX612 springs that I believe are good to .600 lift. The best thing to do is order them as a kit. Call up combination motorsports and see what they can do for you. They can even recommend a cam for your car depending on what you want and your current mods.

Good luck choosing

227/233 kit from Combination Motorsports here

I love it! Still working out a few bugs with the install but from the small bit I got to drive it, it is awesome. Stock heads btw
