Best Cam For My Situation (Help Please)

Well ive been throwing this idea around for quite awhile and i wanna get into starting to internally mod my 95 t/a. Ive been looking around some of the cams like hotcam and the cc305. I dont race my car and it wont see the track very much. I enjoy my car on weekends and take it to the shows and usually in city driving. I need a street/emissions legal cam for my application. Gains i could honestly care less about but i want that big lope in the idle. I know with being an emissions legal cam im going to have a rough time trying to find one.

My car is a 95 t/a a4 (160kms) with mods consistions of jet hot long tube headers and a free flowing exhaust system. I also have a hypertech tunning done and k&n cold air intake system. Can i run this on stock motor and will there be any upgrades ill have to do in this situations. What other expenses will i have during this precedure.

Thanks,
Matt

Just buy the hotcam kit then. Its very drivable, I put over 100k on mine, and it lopes nicely. There are better cams out there, but if thats all you're after the hotcam kits is the cheapest and easiest way to go because it comes with springs, retainers, and rockers. The only stuff left to buy will be the gaskets.

i agree. the hot cam is good for a daily driver, and has a nice lope to it... i actually liked how it sounded better then my 306 cam i use to run.
and with cats you can pass emission.

Custom cam man, tell em what you want and they'll gind the magic stick of your dreams for ~$275-350

I honestly don't know why anyone would put so much time and effort into installing an off the shelf cam when a custom one is really not that much more expensive.

no reason for him to spend the extra money. from what it sounds like he just wants the lobe. he's not going to miss that extra 10 or so hp from a custom cam.
if he did it with a custom cam its going to be an easy 200-300 dollars over the hot cam kit... if he goes for similar parts.

I agree with blkchevyz. We have both had the hotcam kit, and now have similar set-ups (CHS heads and custom cams) so we've been on both sides of the fence. For what this guy is wanting to do, a custom cam is not the necessary. Hotcams lope just fine

So you don't like my CD idea eh? Why spend 1000 bucks just to make your car sound like it's got a small cam when you can make it "sound" like it's got a really big cam?

Re: Best Cam For My Situation (Help Please)

I have a mild cam on a 112 lsa sitting in my garage. since it is on a 112 it should make a nice little lumpiness. I will sell to you for $100 plus shipping

**edit** its a comp 502 grind by the way.

You can get custom grinds through bret bauer. A friend of mine is currently going through him and he seems extremely knowledgable, not to discredit anybody else
