I've personally always ran the SLP unit. Noticable gains from the seat in just driving the car.

I haven't used the LPE piece so can't judge that one.

They are all going to give you basically the same result. I've had the K&N CAI, and now run the SLP CAI. No difference in performance...but I really like the look of the SLP unit better.

K&N, Moroso, LPE, SLP they all do the same, route cooler air from the fender well into the engine. They'll all result the same. Just get one that looks better (slp) then the rest.

I personally have the LPE since it was $135

It is all a matter of which one looks more appealing to you.

Re: Best CAI Lingenfelter VS SLP

I've heard they make noises as well.

Lingenfelter - not sure
K&N -Silent
Moroso - Whoosh
SLP - hiss

I have the K&N and if I see a good info price, I will go SLP (based on looks).

i would think the best way to determine actual performance gains would to be get each kit, brand new, install it on the same car, and in the exact same temperature, air density, humidity, and dyno test each intake, rear wheel horsepower and torque numbers. only then would u be able to determine actual performance numbers. 1/4 miles time are so hard to determine due to track conditions and the inabililty to control nature make that portion of it near impossible. i dont like the K&N because its an oiled filter and it can damage your electronics, i LOVE the SLP intake, the looks, the way it sounds, ease of keeping clean. i love it.

Re: Best CAI Lingenfelter VS SLP

I like the LPE. SLP is nice, but has small dual cones compared to LPE's huge single conical. LPE's is about the size of a 2 liter coke bottle. LPE is cheaper and will do the same or better job of flowing since suction through a single tube would be greater than two. Just think of having tubes in your mouth, one paper towl roll with have more sucking power at the opposite end than two straws would, you'd cut the air pulling ability by alot and still have to pull air through the same filter material. LPE filters are easier to get replacements since you can order them from anyone who carries K&N unlike SLP's which you only get from them to my knowledge. The LPE does make a sucking noise, but to be honest it sounds badass coupled with a nice exhuast tone. Changing the SLP filters sucks, hell even putting them on the first time it hell. Its hard to get to the screws. LPE's on the other hand is accessible through the engine compartment and you dont have to remove the bottom panel to get to the clamp. A simple ratchet and socket work great. I looked at all CAI's very closely when I was getting one and LPE had the biggest filter at the lowest price with the easiest install and access, with the tubing that was least obstructed. LPE claims 25hp on their 383 stroker motor if you find the info. It put down 12rwhp on a bone stock 95 Z. Thats damn good for a CAI. SLP claims 20-25 on all their exhaust and intake stuff, plus they said you gain 10 hp from a 160* stat, so I dont really trust their judgement. If you going for looks buy whatever you think looks "pretty" then put a pink dress on and skip across your lawn.

i have an LPE and like it. no issues and it does pull in more air. i know alot of the guys up at LPE so i do favor their product over other vendors. a good friend of mine had the K&N CAI it is a good one too. anything other than stock you will be happy with.

Because the single straw is the same size as the other two, unlike that of the LPE/SLP debate. Try drinking through a paper towel tube and see how fast you get drunk. You also increase the intake force when using two straws so you get the same rate of liquid being taken in, this is a constant value in each case used with a LT1.

Love that hiss.... Got even louder when I put in the 52mm TB.

Actually, I can tell by the sound now when I need to clean the two conical airfilters. Whcih since i opened up the bottom plastic, I need to do quite often, but well worth the extra work when I "annoy" the ls1's with my tailights...

LPE is the best for the flow and price. The Slp is metal and soaks up heat . I have a K&N it's better then the Slp.

Cool Had a Moroso, SLP and finally an ASM

ASM is the easiest to maintain.
