I know a lot of people will tell you to go with long tube headers...but I have a 93 also and I went with some shorties and a good tune and it made a HUGE difference!!! You can do both of these for the $500 and you'll be happy you did.... Come and check out this website for 93's although everyone is welcome

Sorry, I'm just going by the numbers that I have seen. I didn't know they could be done that cheap.

BTW, my Jet-Hot coated MAC mids with coated Y-pipe were $540 to my door. NOt saying they are better than LT's, that's another arguement. Just giving another number for Flyin_Ryan to consider.

Putting them in tomorrow.

Iam thinking of maybe getting an airfoil, cutout and muffler for now.
I do not want to go crazy and make it an all out race machine, I dont want nitrous or a cam for right now. I just want a nice sounding quick little car, for mostly street and a little strip.
I got a oval Sprint car with an all aluminum 410ci chev smallblock in it that puts out 900+hp, that gives me enough racing excitement!
In that case...
An airfoil is a waste of money and exhaust mods won't get you much hp with stock manifolds. A CAI and rockers and springs will give you an honest 20 hp. Or, chassis mods make these cars a lot more fun. $500 will buy SFCs, a front swaybar and a shock tower brace and leave you enough change for a muffler.

Ok Iam choosing from...

-electric cutout
-muffler
-programmer
-catback system
-or maybe headers..

If I buy headers what else do I need, will they bolt on to the rest of the stock stuff? What do you think about getting a programmer, catback system, and electric cutout, are they worth the money?

Oh yeah also whats the difference between long tube headers and short tube?

Do the headers bolt on to all of the emissions crap or what do you do with that stuff.

Iam thinking about those Pacesetter headers, do I just buy the headers, or is there other stuff you have to buy. I see you guys mention Y Pipes quite often, what do they do, and what is on my stock Camaro, is it 2 seperate pipes coming from the headers into one cat or something, Iam confused...

Don't bother with the airfoil it's a waste. Also I would decide between either a cutout or a muffler, not both. There's no reason to waste money on two seperate exhaust parts when you'll only be using one of those at any given time, never both. A cutout will run you under $50 bucks installed. Or you could go the easy way with a sawzall like I did and spend nothing. When my car had just a CAI and the home made cutout it sounded very nice and was pretty quick. If your car is and auto I would definate look into gears, it won't give you any more horsepower but your car sure will feel a lot stronger. Especially around town. It will help you put your power to the ground a lot better. Also it will only compliment any if not all mods you get in the future. If you don't want to opt for gears, a good set of sticky tires and maybe some suspension pieces will really help your car perform better with what you have. Lower control arms, Subframe connectors, and a Shock tower brace will make your car's feel much much tighter. Every one of those parts will aid in traction in both astraight line and on the curves. Again that's something that will compliment all future mods. Plus the powdercoated colors you can choose from look very good. Just some ideas. Gears will run you about $300 including the installation kit, then you'd have to find someone to install them if you can't. Sometimes that can be expensive, so shop around before you buy them. The 3 suspension parts I mentioned you should be able to get those for under what you have. Around $90 for the STB, $140 for the subframe connectors($50 welded install) and around $110 for the lower control arms. That leaves little cash for tires if you get everything, so if you want tires also just opt to drop something off that list. I'm not sure what to recommend dropping because they all serve their purpose well, but probably the STB because it doesn't aid as much for traction and overall rigidy of the car as the other two do. Still valuable at some point. You can get a pair of Nitto drag radials for under $300 for the pair, very very good traction for a street tire. Some people gain 2-3 tenths on the quarter with just a tire change. Good luck.

I think Iam gonna go with an electric cutout for sure right now...
And I don't know what else. Maybe that MAC catback system.
Does anyone have anything to say about programmers that I should know...?

I suggest, if youre on a budget, buy used! My budget is so dismal, I shouldnt even be buying things for my car but I manage.

So far I've gotten...

Moroso intake: $75

Mac Headers: $250 (waiting to be installed)

Magaflow muffler: got it for free... but would probabaly be about $150 to get it done at a muffler shop.

So, counting getting the muffler installed, I am under your $500 budget. I plan on getting a cutout welded in when I install my headers.

You just have to check the for sale section of the board daily.. I saw some coated hooker long tubes go for $200. there yesterday. If youre not in a rush, I highly suggest buying used.

Most people will say dont mess with the programmers, and if you want a computer tune, send your computer to one of the mail order vendors.
