Bent Rods? How To Tell?

I'm talking with a guy that "biulds race engines" (I think hes a tool, but does work as a heavy duty mech) he says that one or more of my rods are bent, and thats why my car hard starts sometimes.....

but really, I dont know, could be? maybe.
What signs do bent rods give? or I guess even stretched or compressed (if they do that??)

But now I'm curious as to how to tell if rods are bent. and even how that happens?

I'd start by checking the fuel pressure. If the car runs ok (doesn't make horribly loud noise) you're rods are probably straight .

Are we talking pushrods or connecting rods here?

Just ask him if he knows of a good place to get '83 corvette parts .

pushrods,
a connecting rod would be WAY noticable and dont bend do they?

83 vette? ok I dont get it? is that like a water pump for a vw bug?

Connecting rods can bend, but id imagine it would be pretty noticible might be able to do a compression check and see if there are any major diffrence a bent rod would mess with your bore, another way to tell would be to pull the bearing and look for uneven wear?

A connecting rod can bend with enough force. A bent pushrod will make noise, and the car probably wouldn't run too great.

'83 vettes don't exist .

Bent puhsrods will make the valvetrain excessively "ticky"

The easiest way to check for straightness is to roll them across a piece of glass. If one is bent it will be noticable.

it sounds like he really does mean the connecting rods.

but if the pushrods were bent you would also probably b getting a missfire as well as the noise in the valvetrian.

by the way.. yes.. the 83vette is a LOT like a water pump on a bug
