Before I start thinking of opti etc...

I have a 93 lt1 auto with 3.23 gears, and before I installed a cut-out on it, i could floor it from idle..and even up to 25 mph and be able to easily peel out the tires and throw me into the seat. Since I put on the cut-out, i cant peel out the tires anymore, and it seems like there is a dramatic loss in low end power. I put the cut-out cap back on to see if this cured the problem, but it didnt..though it may be because I didn't tighten it all the way because the screws are warped a bit.

anyway, has anyone experienced this dramatic of a low-end torque drop with JUST istalling a cut-out(preferably auto trans people)? I wish i had time to take it to the track and see what it runs, or run it against another near stock lt1 to see where i am at performance wise.. If i hit ~ 14 flat at the track, i wouldnt be concerned.

I am a little concerned it may be the dreaded low end hesitation IE: opti, fuel filter, o2 sensor, plug/wires, etc, problem that almost everyone goes through.

Give me a warm and fuzzy so I dont have to start tearing through the car!

Cliff notes:
Using peeling out of tires as a guideline to show loss in low-end power, used to be able to easily peel out, now can't even break torque the tires to peel them out. only mod was exhaust cut-out.

Yea man the cut out will kill you're low end when uncaped. Even with it caped if you didnt tighten very well you're loosing back pressure so that's prolly your prob. That's one of the main reasons I don't like cut out's for the street.

Phew, thats some relief right there. I just didnt think it would be THAT dramatic. I know most people gain an mph or 2 in quarter, it must be in a spot where its hard to feel..like in the already weak area of our upper RPM range. Wish I could get this thing to the track, or at least run it against a near stock one from idle to give me an idea of where im at. when i dont punch it from the usual auto deadspots, it downshifts sharply, and proceeds to pull hard.

Anyone specifically encounter this with an auto? I know with a manual, you can pretty much launch it from any RPM and peel out, so the effects might not be as noticeable.

KNock retard? That is my only guess. Did you touch any wires for the 02S?

i havent done any of the trouble shooting yet, before i touched things and potentially messed it up even more. just seems coincidental that it happened when i installed the cut-out.

Intersting on the knock retard, can a cut-out cause the car to rumble enough to that it think its knocking? the car does rumble quite a bit when the cut-out is open. .

Can anyone give me anymore info on a stock car with a cut-out and it picking up false knock? or anything else related to my initial post?

on a separate note, will the knock module work with a 93 car?
