Beehive springs not at what comp calls for

The 26918 spring according to Comp's website should measure out at 130# at an install height of 1.800". I had two of them measured yesterday and they came out to be 170# and 175# at 1.800" How does that work? I wouldn't think a spring gets better the more mileage you put on it

The tiny retainer sits weird on some height measurement tools double check that it may be causing you to think the installed height is much higher than it really is.

I think I figured out why. I think I have a different spring than what I was origianlly told but i'm waiting to hear back from Lloyd to know for sure. I took some o.d and i.d. measurements of the springs and it looks like I actually have the 26120 spring instead. The 26120 measures 155# @ 1.880"

So is that the big brother to the 918s? What is the seat and open pressure if you don't mind me asking? Checked out the picture of your car, that's a mighty big trans cooler you have up front. LOL

377# @ 1.280"
1.230" coil bind

Yeah my trans fluid in the 6 speed is like ice water

M6, good for you. Must be a gas to drive, and thanks for the info. Rick

Yeah that sounds like the 120's, 180ish on the seat at that pressure.

I normally use a 3/8ths pushrod with those and it seems to work like a champ.

Did you check that with a spring mic? Remember that the retainers sit in the step of the spring mic so you have to take that into account and subtract that from the mic reading. Even then 2.200" is wrong.

Yeah I did the math bassackwards. That's why I deleted the post. It was measuring 2.050" with the spring mic and if you subtract the .150" it would put me at 1.900". The springs call for an installed height of 1.880" (assuming they are the 120s) so I would think I am good on that aspect. And with the spring coming in at 175# at 1.800", I'm pretty sure my issue isnt weak valvesprings. Back to the drawing board. Thanks Bret
