Beehive Shape Ovate valve springs. Can they be used on LT1's?
Re: Beehive Shape Ovate valve springs. Can they be used on LT1's?
I am running the Comp918 springs on my car right now with the titanium retainers. I did not make any changes to the heads and am still using the stock seats as well. My buddy (and roommate) who works at Comp recommended them to me and I have been pretty pleased so far.
Re: Beehive Shape Ovate valve springs. Can they be used on LT1's?
The 918's run a 130# seat pressure. I read on another site where it said they'd be good to ~.660" lift, so you could most likely run .625" lift with no problem.

On a stock aluminum LT1 head this setup should
result in a 1.745" installed height.

Dumb questions.... why did you use those locks with +.050? cause the price? and second dumb question, where did you get the 26915 springs from? I could not find them at compcams.com, thunderracing.com and Jegs.
next dumb question... the retainers...its listed as "steel retainers for bbc beehive springs" Whats "BBC"
Ok thats enough for now.

Thanks in advance.

MentalCaseOne,
I used the +.050 locks to achieve the most installed height with
off-the-shelf parts. Because the spring shim/locator is .062" thick
it takes up quite a bit of height compared to the stock shim which
is in the .040" range. I mocked up the beehive springs with the
standard 7* hardware and the .062" shims and the installed height
was 1.72" which was too short (too much seat pressure) for me.
The 10* super lock retainers are the big block retainers (hence BBC).
I used a stock length pushrod. I purchased my springs from:

Looks like speedrace.com has deactivated their parts catalog... I ended up in E-bay and then it said the store just opened up and to check with them later...
