BBK throttle body

I bought a BBK 58mm throttle used off here, and it is a 94-97 throttle body for my 93, only difference seems to be that I can't hook up my idle air controller(IAC) to it cuz the harness's are completly different, is there a way to make this work? I was thinking, what if I were to just pull a 94-97 IAC harness of a 94-97 Z28 from a junkyard and cut my current harness off and splice in that one.. would that work? If not what do I have to do to use this throttle body on my 93 Z28??

Re: BBK throttle body

just curious but do you have an a4 or manual. i know the 93's have the 4l60 and the 94 and ups have the 4l60e so theres an issue with the kickdown.

id be interested in you findings though seeing as how used throttle bodys off 94 and up are more accessable than the 92 and 93's. and i'll be in search of a throttle body soon, mines an auto. im pretty sure ive seen where it has been done though.

i think aggiez28 thinks a 93 is a 3rd gen???

Sorry to hijack, but I have a 93 also and just picked up a bigger throttle body. I am an auto...I figured that since mine isnt electronically controlled, i wouldnt have a problem with the tranny shift points as it shouldnt be affected at all...is that what you were saying in your post??

can anyone confirm?? I just had my shift points changed in my 93..and it was a PIA!! I'd hate to have to do it again.

Re: BBK throttle body

the 93 throttle bodys have a provision for the tv cable and the 94+ do not.
so there is an issue there but im sure it can be converted to work.

Re: BBK throttle body

The IAC harness on the 94+ is a flat 4 pin harness, and on the 93's is a square 4 pin harness.

You'll either have to:

A: Purchase a 94+ IAC pigtail for the car harness and cut your 93 harness off and splice in the 94+ pigtail. To do this right, you'll have to have wiring diagrams for both, and match up the wires correctly.

or

B: Use your old IAC housing and IAC that came off your car and simply put them in the new TB. Should bolt right up. No splicing necessary.

www.speeddensity.org -- it's been covered a few times over there.
