Question BBK or Rksport headers

Yeah, I know, shorties, I should get longtubes, etc. But I consider the money and pain of getting longtubes in too much trouble to bear for a car that I don't really race or take to the track, I just want a little extra oomph and some more noise now that the intake and exhaust are on.

Is there really any difference? I've heard the RKs are basically the same as AS&M, with the exception of no Y-pipe coating I believe. The BBKs look a little nicer, though. I'm assuming I'll see about the same gain as both of them? - rks are 1 3/4, bbks are 1 5/8.

Opinions please.

Have you considered SLP shorties at all? I think (and heard) they are the best shorties available for our cars.

SLP - $770
RK - $590
BBK - $490

w/ tbyrne's discount it would be 10% off for the top two, but those slps are still up there. I've gotta put some money in some sfcs here too, so money is short...

I got my MAC's Jet-Hot coated inside and out with Y-pipe for $540 shipped to my door. That included a $25 Christmas coupon though, so I would guess $565 shipped to your door.

I can't remember exact hard numbers but George Baxter was making around 700rwhp with AS&Ms witha modified collector 3" y-pipe and picked up nothing going to Hooker LTs. On a side note, me and 2 guys I know went 12s @109-111mph with just bolt ons with AS&ms/RK Sports and all three were full weight cars.

I'm running RK's on mine....been on along time and still look new.
Not many miles put on it though.
I think my car put out 610rwhp with a 12lber, no NOS.

BBK's are shorty, 1 5/8", and I don't know what the coating is.
RK's are mid-length, 1 3/4", ceramic coated.

RK's are your bang for the buck answer I believe.

Cool

another vote for the Mac Headers! I would recommend buying them from Jet-Hot. It is worth every penny. That is where I purchased my set of headers. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me or send me a PM.

the bbk's might look good now, i have them on my car. They turned blue in approximatly 15 secs. Looks like i got a bunch of smurfs under the hood. I have to many problems with mine. I cant get the EGR plate to match flat with the EGR. I am saving up for some Jet-hots. Only doing the header thing one more time. (97 z28)

Another vote for mac headers. I have mine jet hot coated also and i love them (especially when it's time to change plugs)

I thought i heard that people were having fitment problems with the rk sport headers (don't quote me though).
