BBK 58mm Throttle Body Idle Issues...High Idle on 383 stroker...

Hi all,

I'm very stumped...
I cannot get my engine to idle less than 1300-1400 rpm with my new 58mm BBK Throttle body... I've back the set screw out and in with no result...This is actually my second BBK... the first had an even worse idle...it would only go down to 1500-1600 rpm...

It doesn't take many turns before the throttle response no longer makes contact with the set screw...

However, whenever I take my buddies 58mm off of his 383 stroker it works fine...brings idle down to 900-1000 rpm...

His throttle response go further back with the set screw...it has greater adjustment abilities...

Any ideas? Can the throttle response be adjusted by taken a coil out of the spring....

We've tried playing around with many various settings but nothing seems to work...I'm thinking of call BBK...

Thanks,
TDog

from what I hav read, bbk tbs are not the best of quality. the 58 mm tb is a little too large. 52 mm would have been a better choice and would have given you a better idle.

Have you checked the TPS voltage? You usually have to slot the mounting holes on the TPS sensor to get the voltage back to spec at idle. Also, with the throttle blades all the way closed might check to see if you see any gaps around the edges of the butterflies. If you don't see any gaps then you might have some TPS sensor or IAC problems.

I did adjust the TPS sensor and moved it all over... tried multiple different settings...still no luck...best idle is 1300-1400...

I think BBK has began Manufacturing their TBs a little differently...

Not sure what else I can do other than try another manufacturer, such as Arizona Speed and Marine...

Any other ideas...

Thanks,
TIM
