Battery Fitment

I'm looking at buying an Optima Redtop battery, anybody know which one I need to fit into my LT1? I know I need the GM Side posts, anybody know which Optima I need? Or the dimensions off hand?

I believe there are 2 to choose from. I opted for the one with more power. The battery didn't quite fit so that the hold down bolt could reach the hole.

I used a bladed drill bit to ream out the rubber/plastic hold down enough so that the bolt would reach the threaded hole. Worked fine.

Just don't ream it out all the way through (obviously).

The red top, I think, as far as I know, only comes in one size. I put it in my Z, and all I had to do was cut the bottom of the battery box. It has like 1/2" walls, and you need to cut them off level w/ the bottom of the box. That is what I did, and had no problems.

Good luck. I hope someone will back me up on the size. When I ordered it, I asked them for a Red Top Optima. I am almost 90% sure it is a one size deal....

The only difference I really noticed was very crisp starting in the dead of winter. No stalling, was a VERY fast, easy crank I think
mine has 920 cold cranking amps....again...I think! lol

And, it is heavier! Obviously b/c of the cells.

Good luck, and a good choice!
