Basic rebuild, whats needed?
I am wanting to do a basic bottom end rebuild on my car when I do my cam. The motor runs great, has excellent oil pressure, but at 130k miles I am afraid of spinning a bearing with a high revving cam. Could I reuse my stock pistons, rods, crank, and just rehone the cylinder walls, put new rings/bearings in, and put it back together? I am not going to be pushin enough power to need to go forged, so I figured this would be fine. Also, I will get my crank polished while its out. Any input would be great. I am planning on either a CC306 or LE2 set-up btw.
if i was going that route i'd go at least with some new Hyper. pistons along with a new ring set at least. then do bearings and polish the crank like you mentioned. even though you wont be pushing a lot of power i would spring for some speed pro pistons which are fairly cheap but give a little peace of mind. a friend of mine went with a speed pro piston and ring kit with his rebuild, along with a cc306 and ported heads + 175 shot of juice and ran a 10.7@126. prolly coulda gone faster but he blew the rear-end out of the 60ft. lost of potential for a setup like that.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Where can I get those pistons from? I figure if I pull my motor apart and can still see the cross-hatching in my cylinder walls, than just re-honing it and having new bearing/rings and possibly pistons out it would be fine for what I want to do.

I had my block cleaned and all that good stuff, new cam bearings installed, honed the cylinders and replaced the main/rod bearings. Thats it.
Awesome, hopefully mine will still be in good shape. I run 4 quarts of valvoline max life 10 w40 and 1 quart of rislone. My dad runs the same in his car, he opened up a 20 year old motor last winter and it was as clean as could be. Idk what was used in my car before but hopefully its clean.
