Question Bare lt1 Build up!!

okay, so I have a bare block lt1 2 bolt. This block has absolutely nothing on it, no sleeves, no rods, no pistons, bearings or crank. Notta. I bought it to build up to drop in my 3rd gen camaro.

Now to the questions. Higher compression pistons, say around 10.1 or 11.1? I'd like to supercharge, but I know I should use lower compression pistons for that, and I already know what I would get, but! Im thinking also of staying N/A and just having a serious set of heads and cams that can get my redline to start at 7500 rpm.

My ulimate goal is to have at least 500 hp to the flywheel. I could honestly say I would be happy with that. And since this is a long and very drawn out project, please do toss your advice with parts and ect that I should go about doing to get this HP dream...oh, yeah...torque output should probably be around 580. So lets keep that in mind...and if I dont reply with a thanks later on, thank you! for all the help

Welcome to the board...You have to decide from the beginning if it's going to be FI or NA. In any case with a 500 hp goal you'd better get a 4 main block or convert the one at hand.

Re: Bare lt1 Build up!!

500RWHP needs 4 bolt mains. 500 flywheel does not, 500 flywheel hp motor sprint cars all run 2 bolt studded. But it is good insureance if you can afford it.
You need a forged rotating assembly. thats a given. Figure out the N/A / supercharger thing bufore you buy anything. If you want a car that will run ok NA for a year without the supercharger go 9.8-10.2 and you could add about 10 PSI later
If you want a badass blower car Go like 9.2 CR and you can do like 18 PSI later but that wont run well NA. It will even be harder to get it to run well NA with a blower can since they usually have 114 LSA and NA performance cams will be 112. If you go 11.1 you would probibly only be able to do 4 or 5 PSI. dont forget to have the crank keyed for the blower.
