balancer ?

hey guys im doin a timing cover, oil pan gasket under drive pulley and electric WP upgrade and i was wonder is there any special way or trick to get the balancer off? i got the haynes book and it says the balancer itself shoulld come off by undoing the three bolts, then u het a crank puley puller to remove the hub, but i can't even get the balancer to come off. also i was wondering to remove the oilpan im gunna have to hoist the engine slightly won't I?

Thanks!!
Rob

the pully is the hub or balancer all the same thing
pull out the bolt in the center of the pulley then with a puller pull the pully off and i warn you to be careful with the pully puller becouse you can ruin your crank

I would have to say that the pulley might come off when you take those 3 bolts off. But if there is any way you could ever get a balancer off without a puller i would love to know about that. You need a puller to pull the balancer, they are on there tight. And viper is right, you can wreck the crank if your not careful. So watch where you put the puller end.
