bad ,worn or broken rings/valve guides or seals
so I did a compression check , all the cylinders were with in 9% of each other( lowest 208 psi highest 230 psi) I guess the compression is ok , so why am I getting smoke ?is it possible to have a oil ring going bad or broken and still have good compression? I really notice it when I have just came to a stop , I sit still for a second then it starts smoking for 2 to 5 sec then it stops? the car is running fine other than it smoking, can anyone tell me why it is doing this?

Re: bad ,worn or broken rings/valve guides or seals
I have some kind of teflon valve seals( machine shop put them in 00 ) they said that they have not had any problems with them before, they said to check the intake for a leak between the heads and the inthake(sucking oil from the lifter valley) did that , not it?

Does 00 mean no miles?

no I did a rebuild in the summer of 2000, just a few weeks ago started having this problem, has had a little smoke (very little )when starting for a while, but has gotten worse , looks like I'm doing a burnout when I start it now

In th drive way warm it up to normal-- then pull the RPM's to about 3000 and hold it fot a minute--Then let off and goose it fairly hard-- if it smokes and then goes away replace your seals.

the only reason for the teflon seals is they said the stock one's would not fit ( I have crane 10308 double springs) ? what if I cannot use the stock kind , any other kind to get?

My post from above.
