Bad waterpump cause hard starting?

Like the topic states...would having a bad waterpump cause my car to take longer to start than normal? I have a definite leak coming from the weep hole of my waterpump, so I am changing it out, but I just wanted to know if changing my waterpump might cure this situation. I am also getting a strange sound coming from under the hood. It sounds similar to the air-sucking sound that new air filter intakes make, but louder. The sound changes according to RPM.

The water pump is not going to cause hard starting unless it is getting your opti wet. If it was you would probably have other symptoms after it started up.

When I had a WP leak, it did make the car had to start (wet opti). But like shoebox said, I experienced several other symptoms, including wild fluctuations in readings on the temp gauge, and the car would run like crap after starting (due to the wet opti).
