I recently pulled off my heads for them to get machine work done. This was the first time I have done something like this so I didn't know what to expect. When looking at the pistons, I couldn't tell if the buildup on them was good, bad, normal or what. Tell me what you think; picture links below:

From what I can see in the pics they look about average...
Normal carbon etc... exhaust valve slightly lighter in color..
All about normal...


Also, those heads appear to be the '561' castings that are a little lighter, and flow slightly more... [not as much meat tho for future porting...]

Maybe that is why my car runs better than most other LT1's i have gone against.

 

When did they start using the 561 castings?

 

96-7 I believe..
