bad odor

I have a bad odor coming in the car while driving. It almost smells like unburnt gas ,oil,or coolant.I can't really describe it but it makes my eyes water. The guy who owned it before me gutted the cat,but it does not smell like rotton eggs. Any suggestions. Also my coolant, and oil levels dont drop, and no signs of coolant in my oil, plus i changed the opti, plugs, wires, fuel filter.Car has 116k.Thanks

None of those three items smell the same when they are burning. Which is it? Maybe it's the gas you're buying.

i use 87 pump gas . But after i change my oil the smell seems to go away for awhile.Could it a valve ,or a intake gasket.

Try switching to 91 octane or better. Does it smoke when you drive it or start it? Does it smell like it's coming from the exhaust or engine compartment?

See if you have oil running down the back of your engine and on the trans. My intake has a slight leak as do many other LT1's. But I hardly ever smell oil or see it on the ground.

I think it's just because you have no cat and you're burning too low octane fuel.

No, High compression engines should run high octane fuel. Like I said, with a gutted cat your exhaust is going to smell different than if you had a cat that worked.
