BAD miss

Alright if i start up my car and begin to drive it will be fine until it reaches a certain temp. then it will begin to miss and hesitate badly. it is very bad at idle when setting at a light or "trying" to take off from a light. seems that the longer it idles the worse it will get. while driving if it does this i can rev it up a couple times and it will clear up and be fine. when i shut it off after driving for a good while and restart it after 30 mins to and hour it will also run like total crap. i have been fighting this for sometime now and i'm completely fed up with it. some days it runs fine and others i cant go over 30! i have a 211/219 duration cam and headers other than that its pretty much stock. new plugs, wires, opti, and soloman tune.

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks, Kyle

Re: BAD miss

If it's heat related, it could be the ICM getting to hot. When the engine is cold, you could heat the ICM up with a hair dryer or heat gun and see if that reproduces the problem. The ICM can also be tested at Autozone, but it will be cold, unless you take it off while it's hot in the parking lot.

Re: BAD miss

If it seems to be water temperature related, it's probably the water temperature sensor in the water pump. The PCM uses that reading to adjust the fueling....richer when cold, etc.

Give it a look......

Could a bad water temp sensor cause a low coolant light to come on? My light will randomly go on and off

No, it won't. the coolant level sensor is located on the engine side of the radiator on the passenger side tank. They do fail all to often. Liike the oil level sensor, all it does is light a warning on the dash. Anyway, when the engine is cold, open the cap and look in..you should have coolant to the bottom of the filler neck. If you do, the sensor is bad. If not you have a leak.

The sensor is often just cruded up. Try pulling it and cleaning it before buying a new one....
