Bad injector ruin spark plug and cat?
Bad injector ruin spark plug and cat?
About 1K miles after my cam install (46K on the car) I started getting a stumble. No codes. Then my passenger side cat started to rattle. Turned out I had a bad injector. I replaced the cat and put in brand new injectors with a MadZ retune. Runs much better, but seems to have just a slight trace of a miss and doesn't have the throttle response I think it should. I didn't number the injectors when I took them out
, but I'm wondering if a lean condition could have ruined the cat and maybe burned a plug on that bank. Since pulling the plugs is such a PITA I want some opinions first. Plugs, wires and opti cap were new with cam install.
Thanks

Re: Bad injector ruin spark plug and cat?
it's possible. the extra 02 that comes through the unburnt cyl will ignite the gas on the cat...sounds about right to me. that's why i go for no fuel rpm limit instead of no spark (only if i'm not using NOS)
Re: Bad injector ruin spark plug and cat?
also...didnt think of it till now any way...go on ebay and pay the 30 bucks for the shortened spark plug socket and the ratchet wrench that fits. i had absolutely no problems changing any pluts from under the car with this setup. very easy access and didnt need to remove anything.
or, if you go to walmart and buy a SPsocket then you can cut/grind it down and cut the rubber thingy in half. use your own ratchet wrench because everyone should have a set of stubbies (at least) of these things because they are awesome and i wouldnt work on anything without them. no, i'm not a vendor nor do i work for any tool making company...they are just an excelent design and i love mine.
