Bad Iac symptons

Will a Bad Iac cause your idle to jump back and fourth between
800 and 1500 rpms at idle?,could it affect shifting, loss of power, cause a miss? thanks

Mine caused about a 1800-2000rpm idle and sometimes it went down to normal, then back up to high.

Have you tried cleaning your IAC? My idle jumped all over, especially when coming up to a stop. I cleaned it and all is well.

iat

yea i cleaned it, i tryed checking for vacuum leaks with starting fluid kinda hard to tell if there is one because the engine revs every 30 seconds, I'm going to go ahead and replace the Iac
got one ordered , i still dont think that is all my problem , will one problem create another problem?

hmmm.....I would think it is either a vacuum leak, bad iac, or the mystery idle surge that no one really can figure out.

If it is the first one, the car will only do it when it warms up.

If it is a bad iac it will be more constant, as in cold or warm.

If it is the last one, hold on My car has it, and so do a few other people on the board. Once you figure it out, call me back

I am praying that yours is the iac.
