Bad Clutch = Tranny problems?
Bad Clutch = Tranny problems?
Ok I was talking to one of my friends tonight and he said that his tranny was acting bad ie.. popping out of gear and missing shifts when his clutch started to go out. My clutch is slipping really bad right now if I get on the gas at all. He told me he threw in a new clutch and his problems were gone. Should I waste the time of taking out the tranny and putting in a new clutch or just get my 6 speed rebuilt? -Brad
So if his car was popping out of gear and yours is just slipping I don't understand why you would want to rebuild it?
T56's are pretty strong tranny's. Just buy a new clutch and be done with it, if something happens that you do have to pull the tranny its not like it takes long to get it out of the car ~30min or so.

sounds like all you need is a new clutch. but if you can and like rebuilding tranny's your self why not. upgrade to stronger syncro keys, viper syncros and steel 3/4 shift fork for much better durabilty. other wise spending 1000 bucks on someone rebuilding it for you is fruitless.

My car: Pops out of 3rd occasionally and pop out of R all the time.
My friends car: was popping out of gear and it was grinding, he threw in a new clutch and his problems were gone.
