Backfire/Surge/Miss

I have a heat related miss and surge. I know I have a couple of plug wires that have rubbed to the belt. But it only seems to miss when the car gets warm. I got a new opti put in 5 dayz ago. In addition to these other items

ECM
O2 Sensors
Injectors
Coolant Temp Sensor
Plugs (1k miles)
Wires (500 Miles) but rubbed and worn.
MAP.
Opti.
PCV.
Fuel Filter.

After the Opti install the car seems to take forever to start up. But once it warms. The car starts fine. That makes me think fuel pump. As well as the EGR, plugs, wires.

Backfire/Surge/Miss

I wonder if you're having the same problem I am. Does yours ever die on you or start missing tearably bad if you try giving it a lot of gas?

I had the same type problem, just recently. After the car warmed up it would miss, surge and buck slightly, you had to go easy on the gas or it would stutter. It turned out to be wires 6 and 8, they looked fine, until I took them off and one nearly broke in half at the boot and the other had a burn mark through it I couldn't see from above. Threw two spare wires on there and the car runs great. The funny thing is that the bad wires Ohmed out 1.2K, the same as the rest of my wires, weird?

Bad wires would make it stumble and surge like that? Why does it get worse once it gets' warm?

I had the exact same problem. Replaced wires with OTVC and TR55's and all is well. I almost gave up on the car and donated it. Now it's like new.

once i changed my plug wires it made a world of difference, i left tread everywhere... but shortly after 40 miles later it had rubbed on the pully and my lead foot was soon dissapointed...

for me it ran normal until it warmed up and then the o2's kicked in and it was like omg its running to rich, lets cut back on the gas...

until its running to lean. then the o2's are like "Perfect" and ur like WTF!
