Yeah to some degree he's full of it, but what he is refering to is a pressure wave NOT sound. Anyone who's raced dirt bikes and go carts knows about the pressure wave. The pipes they run are tuned to each and every engine. You usually see the pipes are skinny and there is a fat area for expansion. The length is critical as to produce a pressure wave that when reflected back to the cylinder, it makes it back to the exhaust valve intime to catch the next pulse. Some hoky S@#$ like that. It all helps in scavenging.

As far as the bolt trick, I don't think it's as easy as that. If it were, wouldn't GM be sticking them in everyone's tail pipe?

I don't know about the Fart/ Pooh reference and bolts in the pipe. It all sounds like a recipe for something painful
