Back from first time at track!

I went to the super chevy show in columbus today and took it down the track 6 times. Here are the times, I know im sleeping on the tree, im trying to get used to it. There not special times, just thought I would share, I know I enjoy reading other peoples times. Also my cranks lose. Almost a full tank of gas (dont ask)

1st run

R/T .555
60' 2.319
330 6.273
1/8 9.452
MPH 77.80
1000 12.153
1/4 14.421
MPH 99.43
---------------------
Best run
R/T .430
60' 2.259
330 6.172
1/8 9.245
MPH 77.96
1000 12.044
1/4 14.319
MPH 99.12
-------------------
The only race I won which was agest a 70's camaro with a blower hood scoop and slicks, without the blower.

Me
R/T .491
60' 2.248
330 6.226
1/8 9.422
MPH 77.40
1000 12.137
1/4 14.422
MPH 98.77

Him
R/T .300
60' 2.046
330 5.953
1/8 9.231
MPH 74.53
1000 12.097
1/4 14.569
MPH 90.04
I reeled him in after the 1/8
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall I had fun today, once I got the hang of everything, the first couple runs kind of showed me the ropes, then after that it was burnout heaven and racing

Not to be a dick but how the hell are you pulling 2.3 60ft times with an A4 and 2.73's??? Might want to let some air out of your tires next time but anyways congrats on going to the track. Its fun isn't it

No offence taken, ironic you would say that, I just added air yesterday, and im sure there was to much in them for today, I was going to let some air out, but for whatever reason (for example I was to excited to stop getting in line) to let the air out :P, what psi do you recommend? I got p235 55r 16's good year eagle HR's. Im sure temperature matter somewhat.

Letting air out of street tires doesn't help.

2.3 seems like an appropriate 60' for a 2.73-geared A4 on his first time out. bomb, were you brake-torquing it?

Not sure if I was brake torquing it on them runs, but I did on a couple runs my lowest 60' is 2.209. My first few runs I never had enough time to torque it up mostly because I was still getting the hang of things, but my last runs it was torqed up.

After the gears, get a good converter and a set of sticky tires. You will be quite a bit quicker then. Where you spinning much of the line?

My car won't even spin the tires on a highway, let alone a prepped track, so no tire spin.

I get more tirespin at the drag strip than I do on the street. The prep is for drag tires and doesn't seem to help much at all with street tires. I'm under the distinct impression that it actually makes it worse.

The only time I've ever shifted into second and had the tires come loose (I don't mean they chirped, I mean they spun and didn't hook until I let off) was at the drag strip. I heard several people (the ones with drag tires) comment that traction was really good that day.

Now, on that day, I didn't know yet that letting the air out of street tires doesn't help, and I think I had them around 25psi, maybe a little less. So it's entirely possible that I wasn't hooking because my tires were underinflated.

Not bad times for a stock LT1 with 2.73's and an A4. Get those gears in, do a full exhaust, stall, stickies, and get it tuned. Then you'll think you have a brand new car!!!! Good luck man, speed gets addicting!

2.2 60' is decent, and your times are spot on where they should be with your mods. Your MPH shows that you are making the power, now work on the launch a little and you'll be knocking on the 13's.

Your times aren't bad at all and you probably have some room for improvement still.
