autozone stuff
so my opti went out so im changing it along with my waterpump,
so i go to autozon and the waterpump is 134$ with a lifetime warrenty and the opti is 129 with lifetime warrenty. so if anything ever happens to either one of these things i can exchange it for a new one. what do you guys think??
personaly i kinda want them. but im not sure if its worth it.

FYI summit is selling GM 95-97 style optis for $276.95. I thought that was a good price, but damn that autozone opti is cheap! I haven't heard much about the autozone opti, but a lifetime warranty is good stuff!
I truly hope you don't have any problems for as long as you own the car. However, a good warranty is no bandaid for cheap parts. To me the inconvenience is not price but rather the labor time involved. You wouldn't want to have to replace the opti every year would you? Even if it were replaced free. Water pump, who cares but electrical parts are different. I learned the hard way through the years with replacement fuel pumps (not F-body) and Bosch O2's. (also not F-body). I wouldn't be caught dead with anything other than OEM electrical.
Racing, that's a different story.
A word of caution, if the aftermarket opti parts are cap and rotor only. Don't do it. Some of the worst problems come from the bearing in the back.

I cobbled together an advance auto opti with a delco cap and rotor installed it with an advance new water pump and 6k and its doing great.
Long term is still up in the air but so far no problems.

I can't remember the last time I bought anything from Autozone. Electronics is no place to play with cheapo parts IMO. Besides, a new GM opti was only $198 from Dal anyway. Like slowpoke said, the "lifetime warranty" doesn't save you from the aggravation of doing it again.
