Autozone opti?

First I just wanted to say they are junk. I went through five of them in 2 years. Most all of them the car would start to ping. I already got a GM Opti and it has been fine so far. But I do have the Autozone one and was wondering if I could get my money back for this POS. If I am correct they are obligated to give me the money for the price of the opti and the core charge. Has any one else ever returned an Autozone opti for a refund?

Strange, I have an Autozone opti with an MSD cap running well over 10k miles now. Could be something else wrong with your car that is killing the opti. Did you use that opti? If you used it I don't think you can get a refund. They will exchange it if you have a warranty on it though.

Here is the reason nearly all NON GM optis fail so quick. The NON GM optis have a cheap knock off 360 segment pulse wheel that does not have the segment openings cut out very well. I saw one that had flashing connecting two segments. This confuses the sensor. Also the pulse wheels are warped and make physical contact with the optical sensor and cause it to fail.

If one get the AutoZone opti, inspect it for the things mentioned above. If it does not show these problems, it should work fine. And loctite the damn rotor screws too.

Took the dam thing back today and got a full refund. I got a opti from the partsladi on ebay for $255 shipped. It is a GM Delphi unit; should I have used locktite on this rotor also?

I have an Autozone opti right now and it works great! It is probably due to using the original GM segment pulse wheel instead of the wheel that came with the Autozone unit.

Also check the bearing before installation, a wobbley bearing will rub the disk on the sensor.
