Automatic 350/355 LT1s dynoing 360+ or trapping 110+ What's your setup?

I am looking for AUTOMATIC Stock Displacement (350 or 355) LT1s out there dynoing over 360 RWHP or trapping over 110 MPH. (I know they're not totally correlated numbers)

I want to know what guys are using to make better than average numbers. I have researched a lot and 360rwhp and/or 110mph seems to be the defining point of a good LT1 set-up in an A3/A4 car. There are a ton of cam and head/cam automatic cars making less than these numbers, but not a lot over.

I want the combos making REAL power...so lets see what you have! Also, please comment on the street mannors of your combonation.

I am doing this for my own research, but also to help guys out there that want more than the ordinary LT1 heads/cam combo.

Eric

P.S. I'm not looking for Nitrous or Blower Set-ups here, just motor

See sig, it's my daily driver. The only problem is that it overheats on 90*+ days with the AC on. After the coolant gets up to about 210*, I turn the car on and off, then the AC won't blow cold air. Doesn't matter much because the AC is going bye-bye soon.

If you pull weight out of the car and set up the suspenssion right, you can make it down into the 11's @ 110+ with stock heads.

The LE heads were done before he had stages. I would consider them 1.5's. The cam is small compared to most. And last but not least (because it does add up in HP and dollars) I did all the little things that Lloyd recommends. Track times coming this weekend. See below for dyno #'s.

My 93 trapped over 112 to 113 with a mild set-up.

It had 30 over 350 ,forged pistons, home ported heads with bigger valves, the CC305 cam with 1.6s on both sides, port matched intake, 52mm throttle body, under drive pulley,Moroso CAI,hooker LTs, Mufflex Y, hooker 3 inch aero chamber cat-back,3.73 rear gears, 3000 vigilante converter, 160 stat custom tuning through the mail.

I never got to dyno the motor , but I had it for 4 years in this configuration. It ran a best of 12.29 @ 113 mph (in Oklahoma ifirst week of october) with M/T sportsman Pros, and the only weight reduction was no front swaybar and no spare and jack. I sold the car and the kid totaled it, I bought it back from the insurance company rebuilt it and put it in a freinds car with. With the stock tune it made 346 hp with a very very lean 14to 15 A/F ratio !!! the dyno guy refused to run it again until it was tuned. My buddy sold it so we never got to tune it.

Belive me, I know, but not a lot of people want to run around in a tin can.

I consider myself an afficianado of the LT1 and it really occurred to me that everyone has a 224/230 or hotcam car or etc that dynoed 340rwhp and runs 12.4@108 (just a random example, no offense to anyone with this set-up as that is more than good) I am just trying to see who has gone beyond the norm and wanted to hear about these set-ups.

Thanks guys and keep the info coming.

Eric

WS Sick, that's pretty damn good. I always thought the CC305 was a very underrated cam. People always say that it is "about the same as the hotcam" or that it can't run a decent number, but on a lot of cars that are properly set-up it most definetly does.

I think what helped the motor alot was the increase in compression , I used a flattop 2 valve releif piston with the impy gasket. The machinist figured the compression with stock block at 11:1 when we rebuilt it we had the block zeroed and it raised it to almost 11.8 :1.

Re: Automatic 350/355 LT1s dynoing 360+ or trapping 110+ What's your setup?

Well when I was still running stock heads, AS&M midlenghts, 3.42's in the 10bolt, 3400 converter, A/C daily driver. I was running 1.70 60's, 12.00's@113mph with one of Joe O's smaller cams 22X-23X@50 duration same as ole LE2. I then sent my heads to Lloyd he ported with stock valves and swapped to Jethot longtubes. Next track outing with a mailorder tune the car ran 11.61@117mph. Now the car is a little more radical but hopefully we will see some 10's on motor when some of this heat is gone. Later Clint

Re: Automatic 350/355 LT1s dynoing 360+ or trapping 110+ What's your setup?

My 96 is pretty simple.

CAI, Hooker LT headers, 1.6 rockers with Crane 10308-1 spring kit, Magnaflow cat-back, 160* thermostat, LT4 KM.

Car dyno'd 288 RWHP on motor alone, and with the 100HP wet shot, even if I'm only getting 72 HP out of it, I should be good for 360+ RWHP. I have not dynoed with the nitrous yet, and have not run the 1/4 mile with it yet.

My car only dynoed 303 SAE, but thats through a Moser 12bolt and a th350, with a 3400 Edge converter. I have stock heads, 1.6rr, fipk, mac mid's, flowmaster cat back with cut out. Baby cam(smaller than the hotcam) but it does pretty good. It's run a best of 12.42@108.78, looking for better times in cooler weather.

Re: Automatic 350/355 LT1s dynoing 360+ or trapping 110+ What's your setup?

Within the next few months I'll have at least some timeslips from my new combo- Forged rotating assembly with around 11:1 compression, homeported heads which flowed in the mid 240cfm intake/about 180cfm exhaust before the valvejob, 230/230 .600/.600 112 LSA cam, long tubes, tune, 2800 stall (thinking about getting it re-stalled higher) and stock gears. The combo may change a little but those are the basics. I'll be sure and post what she does as soon as I know.

11.80 @ 112 mph on motor not using the trans-brake cutting a 1.55 60'. only dynoed 323 rwhp and 320 rwtq going through a 9 inch. weight reduction and suspension are key. running the cc503 cam and thats it, no head work at all. dyno tuned by ion from madz28.com. waitnig for some decent weather and new tires so i can test out the trans-brake. also the car is far from a tin can. looking at the interior the only thing noticeable is the back seat out which is only a few pounds anyway.
