a4 97 model it shifts perfect except when you go to manual pull it back into 2 gear it it acts like it has a 4000 stall it doesnt feel like it sliping but right at 4000 it pulls like hell and barley pulls below 4000 if i put it in over drive and take off with it to the floor it sifts every gear fine.what could it be?

 

It sounds like it's starting in 2nd gear when you pull it back. Do you have a 1st gear select on your shifter? If not, take the cover plate off of the shifter. Then pull it back as if you were going to put it in first gear. You'll see a black plastic block that prevents it from going into first. Take a hacksaw blade and cut it off. Now try it in first gear, and see what happens.

i have 1st on my sifter and it will go into first fine its only 2nd it doesn this in

 

yea it's suppose to do that...it allows you to put the shifter into 2nd gear so you can take off in slippery conditions easier

 

id suggest not putting the car in 2nd its actually slower belive it or not race it in reguler drive, besides youll mess up yourr transmission faster i sure did

 

what just put it in d and gas and go?

 

i will let you know how i race my car, i rev up my car to about 1200 rpm ofcours using the brake and gas at the same time (also called power braking) and when its time to go i let go of the brake and smash the throttle remember pressing the gas and brake at same time make sure you are at 1200 or little bit before your car starts pilling out, try it works for me.
