auto eprom in a 6 speed car????
auto eprom in a 6 speed car????
Is it possible to have an automatic eprom in a 6 speed car and still have it run? It is a 92 LT1 vette, and watching a scan of it, the computer is telling the car to idle at 650 rpm, which is correct for an automatic car, but mine is a 6 speed. I am having some weird idle issues and running rich issues and wonder if this might be ppart of the problem. I thought all 6 speed cars were programmed to idle at 800? I know my 96Z was set to 800.
Re: auto eprom in a 6 speed car????
mine is obd1 and would be the same as a 93Z with the removable chip.
i am not looking to put an auto chip in my car, just wondering if it had one in it because the computer is programmed to idle at 650.

I actually had a guy load an auto program into my 96z and noticed the same problems that Hootiez28 had. however, the vette uses a ZF transmission which has a reverse lockout on the gearshfit lever, not in the transmission.

The lockouts are pcm controlled so don't do it
